Common Misconceptions about Owning an RV
Owning an RV may seem like an out-of-reach dream to some, but they’re more accessible than ever. If you’ve been thinking about purchasing an RV but are worried about potential barriers or difficulties that may come with it, take a look at some of these common misconceptions (and the reality).
FALSE: RVs are Expensive
Depending on what type of camper you’re looking at and the bells and whistles that accompany it, a brand-new RV can carry a high price tag. However, used trailers are a very viable option – especially for first-time buyers – that can offer a more comfortable price range. We also offer financing options so you can get the RV of your dreams at a price that works for you.
FALSE: It Requires a Specialty License
In Canada, as long as you have a Class 5 driver’s license, you can drive a motorhome. There’s no special license or training required; however, it is a good idea to become comfortable with towing a trailer or driving an RV before hitting the road for a long trip.
FALSE: RVs are for Older People
While it may have been true at one point that campers were mainly popular among retired folks, the average age of RV purchasers has skewed significantly downwards. Now, people of all ages are beginning to look at and purchase RVs, whether for weekend trips or an alternative lifestyle. No matter what you’re interested in, GNR Camping World can help you find the perfect trailer.
FALSE: You Need to Own a Truck
One common misconception about travel trailers is that you need a truck in order to tow it (or, if you have a truck, you can automatically tow any trailer). The truth is, RVs come in many shapes and sizes; some can be driven on their own, while others fold up quite small and only require an SUV to be towed. You’ll need to check your vehicle’s weight capacity before attempting to tow your new trailer.
