Frequently Asked Questions

How long should my Chrysler engine last?

If you service your vehicle at recommended intervals and have regular oil and filter changes, your engine could last upwards of 200,000 kilometres. Every Chrysler engine is different, so ask our service centre about how long your vehicle's engine should last.

How do I maintain the brakes on my Chrysler or Jeep?

Take care of your brakes on your Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, or RAM vehicle by getting the brakes checked at regular intervals, which you will find in your user’s manual. When it's time to replace your brakes, make sure you do so immediately. You can also take care of your brakes by being gentle on them when you slow down and stop. Get Mopar brake pads for longer-lasting brake life.

How often should I change air filters?

For most vehicles, the air filter should be changed at 20,000 kilometers or once a year. If you do a lot more driving or are driving in a polluted or dusty environment, you might want to check with our Service Centre to see if your air filter should be changed more frequently.

How often do I replace my fuel filer? Which brand do I use?

A fuel filter replacement happens between every 30,000 and 40,000 kilometres with most vehicles. Columbia Chrysler’s Service Centre can let you know when you need to replace your fuel filter with a genuine Mopar filter. Don't neglect this important part, because it will help improve your fuel economy and will prevent damage to your car's fuel pump.

How do I know when to replace my battery?

There are quite a few signs that tell you your battery is reaching the end of its life. For example, if your headlights are dim, if you experience a loss of power, or if your starter motor isn't turning over as it should, it's probably time for a new Mopar battery.

How often should I have my tires rotated and aligned?

On average your set of tires should be rotated and aligned every 8,000 kilometers. There are a few exceptions. For example, if you change your tires twice a year from winter to performance or all-season tires, we will do a rotation and alignment at that time; no need for an extra appointment for your tires. Another exception is if you drive an AWD or 4WD. If so, contact us and we will let you know when your alignment and rotation needs doing.

How often should I check the fluids on my Dodge?

Try to give your fluids a visual check once a month. Obviously, you can't see all fluids, but we will check all fluids for you at every service and top them up if necessary. If you notice any leaks under your vehicle, bring it to our Service Centre immediately.
